Hi everybody!! Well here’s another chapter to little miss magic! I sure hope you like it! One note tho, tho this chapter will have humor in it the following chapter will be a bit more serious. I hope it is as well accepted as the other ones of this series! And Heero is probably a little out of character in this chapter at least at first. And one more thing… I want you to know more of these are just pointless dribble so no flames over the story if you don’t like it don’t read or ask me how long this will continue … it will continue till I get tired of writing about the misadventures , also : by the way some things in these stories really happened to me or to people I know ……

Ok disclaimers : how many times do we have to say these things????? Everyone one in their right mind knows the y don’t belong to me… the original characters are mine and so is part of the idea. Part of the credit also goes to Saba and her son’s gerbils because of the story she told me. I have incorporated some of that story into this one. And the cat is based on our own psycho cat. Yes, he is quite psycho. Oh, no animals were harmed in the writing of this story…..lol oh and they maybe occ , ok

Little Miss magic

Of Gerbils, cats, and other things…….

Heero looked at the hissing animal in the small animal carrier. Relena had insisted it be disposed of. She didn’t want it put to sleep, All though he wouldn’t have minded, but given away to a good new home. She had called Hilde and asked her if she would take it. Of course that Maxwell woman had said yes. Heero shook his head. Skyler would either terrorize the animal and tame it or there would be mass destruction. Heero grinned slightly as he shook the carrier, causing the cat to hiss again. Skyler had gerbils. She had tried to give him and Relena some of the babies. Relena had screamed and ran from the room. He had glared at the little girl who had burst into laughter at Relena’s expense. He h ad watched her as she tried to stuff one down the back of Wu Fei’s jacket but was caught in the nick of time by Sally. Sally told her that they would take only two and Skyler had let Sally pick them, even under Wu Fei’s protesting.

He wondered how they would fair under the scrutiny of a cat. He wished he could be there to see the fun begin.
He pulled into the drive way and stopped the car. As he stepped out of the house, he frowned. It seemed more chaotic than normal. He could hear screaming and yelling as he walked up to the house. He pushed on the bell and stood patiently for some one to come to the door. When no one did he grabbed the handle and turned the knob, pushing the door open. He heard Hilde’s exasperated voice over the din of screaming children.

“Skyler, where was the last time you saw them?”
“In their cages, Mom! How did they get out!!!! We have got to find them!!”
“Relax Skyler, we will.”
Heero walked farther into the kitchen and set the carrier on the floor. He leaned against the door jam to watch them run around looking for the missing animals.

Hilde looked up and saw him.

“Hello, Heero. What brings you here?”

“Well, I have that something Relena called you about.”

Oh, good. Can you help a few minutes?”

He nodded and stepped into the room. “So you separated Heero and Relena after they had the babies?”
She nodded a small grin creeping to her mouth. “I’m sorry about the names. You know how she can be some times.”
Heero shrugged. “I used t o think she was tormenting me with that stuff but now I know it is suppose to be flattering.”
“You really are a good sport, Heero.”

Suddenly there was a screech and Malcolm came running from his room. He grasped Hilde’s legs.
“In there! There’s one of them in there!!! Get it out!!!” He shivered as he hung on his mother’s leg.

Heero looked down at the kid clinging to her leg. “You don’t like the rats?”

Skyler screamed, from the other room, “THEY ARE NOT RATS!!!!”
Heero almost laughed but held is straight face. He looked over at Hilde and wondered how the woman kept her sanity. “Where’s Duo today?”

“Oh he’s at the shop. I’m sorry, Heero it isn’t usually this crazy around here but those gerbils ate their way through their cages and got out…. Thank god it wasn’t all of them. I don’ t want to have to chase down 8 of them.”

“Have you got replacement cages?”
“Yes. I made Duo run and get some as soon as we found out they were loose.”

He watched her as she ran a hand through her hair. He would have to shoot something. “You have infinite patience , Hilde. I don’t know if I could do it. I would have shot something long ago.”

She laughed as she detached Malcolm from her leg.

“GO find Exria, Malcolm. Make sure she hasn’t found one of the gerbils and ate it ok?”

“EWWW! Mom!”

“MOTHER!!!!!” Came a loud shout from the bedroom. “I have Heero!!!”
Hilde came in the room and found Skyler hold t he wiggling animal up by it’s tail. “Well, I think it’s Heero.”
“Skyler don’t hold him… her… it……… like that.”

Hilde quickly retrieved the said animal from her daughter’s grip and dropped it into the cage.

Hilde sighed and looked over at Heero who was still standing in the door way.

She shrugged as another bout of screaming began. She rushed into the other room, Heero right behind her.

There Exria sat with the gerbil sitting on her shoulder. The animal never moved as Exria raised her hand to pet it. It just sat there and let her.
“Mom, the camera! Wow!”
Hilde looked at her daughter on the floor with the gerbil. Heero nudged her.

“I think this one will be good with animals.”
Hilde nodded as she backed out of the room to get the camera. Malcolm retreated out of the room and behind Heero. Heero looked down at the boy.

“So you don’t like the gerbils. Why not?”

“They are ugly.”
“That’s not a good reason.”

The boy shrugged as Hilde returned with the camera. She took a quick picture and went to get the animal, but Exria put up her hand.

“I’ll do it, Mama.” She said, as she stood with the gerbil still sitting on her shoulder. It never moved once as the small girl carried it to it’s new home.

Once both of the escapees had been returned to new cages, the y all made their way to the kitchen where the newest member of the household was at.

Skyler knelt down and looked into the carrier.

“Hey , there little fella. You want to come out?” She asked as she unlatched the door. The cat in the carrier hissed and backed away, then sniffed the outstretched hand. It purred and licked the finger tips. Skyler grabbed it and pulled it free. The black and white tabby mewed softly as she cuddled it and carried it into the other room, her brother and sister trailing behind her.
“What are we going to name it?” asked Malcolm.

“Onyx.” came the reply.

“Neat. That’s a cool name , Skyler.”

“Yeah,” Exria piped in, not wanting to be left out of the conversation.

The house quieted down and returned to normal……. Well, what was normal for this brood.

A few days later, as Duo was making his way to the kitchen, he left a sharp bite to his ankle. He howled and turned around only to see a fleeting black shadow. He reached down and rubbed the injured spot.
“Damn cat.” He muttered as he poured a cup of coffee and sat at the table. He watched the beast as it clunk into the kitchen. He looked at it and it looked at him. It came up and rubbed his ankle , purring. Duo looked at it and waited for it’s teeth to sink into him again. When it didn’t happen, he reached down and rubbed it between it’s ears.

He turned back to his coffee and it was gone. But he heard someone call it a damn cat. He grinned as he waited for the next victim to come into the kitchen. Hilde stomped into the room, and poured herself a cup of coffee. She turned and looked at Duo.
“Now I see why Relena gave it to us.”

Duo nodded.
“Do you think we can break it of that?”

“I really doubt it.”
“Well, I guess , then it will fit right in.” She sighed.

A few days later, the cat continued it’s ankle biting rampage. It seemed to get Everyone but Exria. She seemed to be immune to the cat’s attack. The cat followed her around mewing all the time. Skyler finally relented, and gave it to her.

“This beast seems to like you best, Exria, so he’s yours. Mom will want to get him declawed and fixed. So be ready for that.”
She nodded as the cat curled up on her lap.

Skyler turned and left them together. She went to her room and found two of her gerbil cages empty!!

“MOOOOM!!!!!!!!!!” She screamed, “They’ve escaped again!!!!!”

And there began a mad search for the two missing gerbils, only this time it was more intense with a cat in the house.

“Where did you see them last?” Hilde sighed as she stood in the doorway.
“In their cages, mom!” Skyler replied ,with exasperation. “Stupid animals!”

Hilde sighed and started the search. She turned to Exria, ‘Watch the cat , will you, baby?”
She nodded and picked up the squirming animal.

Malcolm smiled and said, “We should let the cat find them.”

Skyler turned to him with a shocked look. Her mouth dropped open and she said, “He’ll eat them!!”
“Yeah, I know!” Was his reply.

“GRRRRRR! I hate him! I hate him! I hate him!”

Hilde and Duo both stifled laughing out loud.

Suddenly there was a commotion as Exria yelled, “No, Onyx! You can’t eat it! No! No!”

Everyone ran to her room and found her pulling the cat back from the gerbil cowering in the corner. Skyler hurried over and picked up the frightened animal and glared at her sister. “You were suppose to keep him away from them!!”

Exria stuck her tongue out at her.

“Girls” Duo warning.

“But Daddy…. She was…..”
“Skyler.” Came the stern reply.
She sighed and shut her mouth, knowing that tone of voice. Her dad didn’t discipline them very often, but when he did, it was not pretty at all.

“Let’s find the other one. “ Hilde said as she grabbed Duo’s arm. “Maybe we should get these two metal cages. They seem too smart for the plastic ones!”

“We could just take them back to the pet shop and trade them up for something else.”
Skyler’s mouth dropped open in shock. “Dad! No! I like my gerbils! You can’t mean that!!!”
He turned to her and grinned.

Skyler pulled the offending animal to her chest and ran from the room. A few minutes later they heard her yell, “I found the other one!”

Hilde sighed as her and Duo retreated to the kitchen. “You really wouldn’t…”
He shook his head, “No, but boy did she hurry to find the other one, huh?”

Skyler was in her room watching the recaptured Gerbils in the cages, when she heard the phone ring. She listened when she heard the odd sound of her mother’s voice. She stood and went to the doorway. She watched her pass her and go to the living room where the TV was blaring.

A few minutes late Her dad went by her and picked up the phone. He heard her dad’s angry voice.

“Why did that happen? We’re suppose to be at peace! Damn it! “ There was a pause. “yeah, we’ll be there in a couple of hours.”
She heard her dad hang up the phone and swear as he walked past her.

She followed him. “What’s wrong, Daddy? What’s happened?”
He turned to her and smiled slightly. “How would you guys like to stay at Auntie Noin’s for a few days? Mommy and Daddy have to go to the preventers office for a couple of days.”
Skyler nodded and then frowned. What had happened?
