Hi everybody! I got a new idea at work the other day and well, I’m gonna give it a shot… I’ve written first person fics before but they never seem to get off the ground or are not well liked but I’m gonna try another one.. I sure hope this one is better than any of those other ones. There may be possibility of song lyrics inserted occasionally. And if there is I will give credit where credit is due . Also of course the characters ( except any original ones ) do not belong to me. They belong to a group of people in Japan that tolerate fan fiction and fan fiction writers so this can all be possible. I thank them for the opportunity to be able to write and express my love for their characters! **bows to owners** Thank you so much.

To all my fans and readers. I thank you in advance because with out you this wouldn’t quite so much fun, but I would still write.. I enjoy doing it too much to stop. And although my time is now limited as to what it was before I will still do my best to get chapters out in a timely manner.

Oh and there will be occasional violence, foul language, possibly sex, and traditional Non- yaoi pairings. If you do not like these pairing please don’t read this story. This is a Hilde eccentric fic, Her point of view and if you don’t like her please just leave. She will be paired with Duo.

There is no room for discussion about that. Oh and flash back thoughts will be italicized.

Present thoughts will be ** thoughts**

“Hilde!” I heard some one holler my name and I looked up from the machine I was tinkering with. I could see the man walking across the factory floor making a bee line directly toward me. I sighed and stood, wondering what the idiot wanted this time.

“What is it, John?”
He smiled that smarmy smile he always did and my stomach rolled with disgust.

“How’s the work coming on that machine?”

“It’s coming fine, if you would leave me alone long enough to get it finished.” I told him, flatly.

He grinned and I shivered.

“Well, I was wondering if you were busy after work.”

“Yeah, I am.”

“Oh?”
“Yeah, it’s called sleep.”
He stopped grinning and looked at me. His mouth opened and closed his mouth a couple

of times like a fish sucking in water. His hands ended on his hips and he looked at me. “What are you really doing here, Hilde Schibecker? We all know who you are or at least who you were.”
I blinked and looked at him, my grip tightening on the wrench in my hand.

“You were former Oz pilot/ recruit and a friend to a Gundam pilot. You had a business on a colony. So why are you here on Earth? ”

I nodded, Not knowing where this conversation was going. Was he looking for an excuse to fire me? Not like that hasn’t happened before .. Something about the Oz thing or Gundam pilot thing scared little people like him.

“Well,” I said slowly. “ It’s true about all that stuff, but you know it’s kinda hard to sell old Gundam and mobile suit parts in a time of peace. No one what those antiques. And ,well, Relena did a good job of pushing peace, anyway.”
He nodded, then a laugh bubbled from his lips, “yeah, that’s true. And I did forgot you do know Miss Darlian.” He shrugged.” Carry on, Miss Schibecker. Maybe you’ll tell us the real reason you’re on Earth and not on L2.”
My free hand reached up and raked through my short black -blue hair. The man was such a dork. I was here because I needed a job.

Yeah, I made money at the salvage yard but there just was no call for mobile suit parts now. So I closed the shop and packed up my and Duo’s belongings and moved to earth. I had called Relena and she set me up with this nice little 2 bedroom house. I didn’t tell her that Duo had emailed me from an undisclosed place and told me to get off the colony. No reason, just to get off. So I took his word for it and took our stuff and left. He said he would get in contact with me after I was settled and let me know where he was. That had been 6 months ago . I hadn’t heard from him since he told me to leave the colony. I missed him a lot. No, we weren’t lovers, not that I didn’t want that .. It just never went that far. Now that I had been on Earth, Relena kept trying to set me up on dates and I kept refusing. I can’t date or even think about it when my heart belongs somewhere else, yeah , to someone else. I would wait for Duo forever if it that’s what it took. My heart belong to him and that was all there was to it. Nothing would change that. I knew she still carried a flame for a certain pilot but she could be as aloof as he could and she hid it well. She had decided that she was done with politics and enrolled in college. I had to chuckle when I thought of Relena in college with all her admirers following her around. She had decided she wanted to be a lawyer, which had made me burst out laughing. She had been a little PO’d with me over that but I had told her, “Giving up one pain in the neck for another. Huh?”

Then she laughed as she thought about it. ”Yeah you’re right.”

But anyway, Duo had emailed me and told me he needed some cash and that he was with Heero. I smiled at that email. He had stated he was only helping Heero ,that he was not his lover or any thing like that, contrary to popular believe he and Heero were not gay and not likely to be. Heero still carried a torch for a certain politician even if he would never admit it . And he had said he liked girls , a certain dark haired, blue eyed girl to be precise. That had made me smile because I was sure he was talking about me. I still have that email saved so I can go back and read it. I had sent him the money to an p. o. box like he had asked and wondered why he couldn’t get himself. I figured one of these days I would get my answers .

I was shaken out of my past thoughts as the bell rang and I glanced up at the clock. 12:30 am. I sighed. Time to go home. A lot of people questioned my working these hours but I told them, what difference does it make. I’m alone and there is no one waiting for me. So the hours made no difference to me . Relena had complained, stating she didn’t understand why I had to work, I had plenty of money from the salvage co. I told her because I wanted to.

I put my tools away and picked up my time card. I was so ready to go home and sleep. It had been a long night and I didn’t realize how long this night was honestly going to be.

I stepped out into the cool autumn night and breathed in the air. It was pretty clean for a busy city. I looked up into the night sky and saw dark clouds moving over head. I frowned. I didn’t think we were suppose to get any rain, I shrugged and headed out across the parking lot to my car. I frowned as I looked up at the light that I usually parked by was out. It was never out. I shrugged as I reached for my keys and unlocked my door. I tossed my lunch bag in and climbed in beside it. I stuck the key into the ignition and started the beast. I looked up and adjusted the mirror and reached for the radio, turning it up a bit, letting the oldies waft through he car. I sat back and sighted, letting my head hit the head rest, when I felt something on my shoulder. I stiffened, jumped and shrieked all at the same time. My eyes went to the rear view mirror and I saw a pair of violet eyes looking back at me.
“Duo!” I said , softly, then started to turn to reprimand him for frightening the hell out of me.

“Hilde, act like I’m not here, ok?’

I gulped and then nodded, “Ok.”

“I need your help. Something big is going down and I need your help.”
“Can’t you go to the preventers?” I asked looking up at his face in the mirror.

I saw him shake his head, “No, there’s been a breach in the preventers. Someone is telling our enemies who the operatives are .”
I frowned, “How long has this been going on? How long have you worked forth preventers full time? ” I asked , not really expecting an answer to that question.

“A while.”
“Damn.” I muttered. “So the preventers are corrupt, huh?”

“Seems so.” He replied to my remark. “We have to be careful, someone may be watching.” He sighed. “I don’ t want to involve you, Hilde, but I have no where to turn.”

I said nothing as I looked back at him, “ It’s ok, Duo, I do have contacts and I was a solder too, you know. Hey, are you ok? You don’t look so good.”
He looked up at me. His hair was out of it’s traditional braid and it looked like he had bruises on his face, but I couldn’t be sure in the dark. He seemed a little pale.

“I’m ok. I need you to take me to……”
Then he collapsed, his hand slid off my shoulder and he fell down to the floor in the back seat. I don’t really remember much after that. I think I was in a panic. I only had one thought and that was find out what was wrong and get him help. I gunned my already running car and sped out of the parking lot. I took him to the only place I figured was safe. The house I lived in. I took a round about way to get there , in case he had been followed to my car. I saw nothing suspicious but I was still cautious. I hit my garage opener and pulled my car in, waiting for it to close before I got out. I stepped out , everything else forgotten except for the man in my back seat. I pulled open the door and reached in for him. I pulled him out struggling a little. I’m a small woman but I am strong. He was semi conscience and could help me a little. It was a struggle but I got him in the house and to my bed room without turning on a light. Once he was on my bed I started to strip off his clothes, looking for injuries. His boots were first and thumped on the floor when I dropped them. I felt my face flush as I undid his pants and pulled them off. I always wanted to do this but not under these circumstances. I unbuttoned his shirt and found it, the wound that he had been hiding. It was a small bullet wound in his side, still leaking blood. It was recent. I pulled the blood soaked shirt from him and tossed it on the floor. I was at a loss. I couldn’t fix this . It was 1:30 in the morning. I wondered how pissed Sally would be , if I called her. I wondered how pissed off Chang would be if I dragged her out into the night. I sighed, only one way to find out. I picked up the phone and dialed my friend’s number.

Chang Wu Fei’s appeared on the monitor and he growled, “What is it?”

“Wu Fei, it’s me, Hilde. I need to speak to Sally. It’s important.”
“It’s 1:30 in the morning, Onna! What can be so important?”
I gulped . I hated it when Wu Fei was angry. I didn’t want to be on his bad side. So I said. “It’s it’s a matter of life and death.”
His eyes narrowed and he spat out, “Who’s”

“Duo and Heero’s.”
His mouth opened then closed, again like a fish sucking water. He turned from me and shook the sleeping woman next to him. I smiled. Sally and Wu had gotten married about a year ago and it as so neat to see him sort of domesticated. I knew he had been married before and his first wife had died. I was glad he decided to give it another try. But I was broken from my musings as Sally’s face appeared on the screen.

“Hilde? What’s wrong?”
“It’s Duo, Sal, he’s been shot. I need your help.”
Her eyes got wide. “Shot?” She questioned as she sat up. I could see WuFei, in the background as he moved from the phone.

“Yeah, I have him at my place.”
“And Heero?”
“I don’t know where he is. I have to get Duo to tell me.”

“OK. I’ll be there shortly.” She said as she shut down the screen and disconnected the call. I leaned back in my chair and wondered if I should call Relena or wait till I found Heero. I pushed back from the phone and headed back to my bed room and the injured man on my bed. Man ,I always wanted him in my bed , but not this way. I shook my head this was not the time for Hentai thoughts. I knelt down beside the bed and looked at him. He was just too darn cute for his own good and I loved him with all my heart.

“Duo,” I said, softly.

He moved slightly and moaned.

“Tell me where Heero is.”
He shook his head.
“You have to. I’ll call Relena and we’ll go get him. Is he hurt, like you are?”

He shook his head once more, then sighed. He opened his eyes and looked over at me.

“Sally’s coming to fix you up. I can bind this wound but she has to see if there are other injuries, ok?”

He nodded slightly. I could see that his eyes were glassy from the fever he had. I hated to bother him but I had to find Heero. There was no way I was leaving Duo’s friend out there alone and possibly hurt. He may be a Gundam pilot but they bleed and die like everyone else.

“OK, tell me where he is. I’ll get him when Sally gets here.”
“You can’t go alone.” He whispered weakly.

“I won’t . I’ll take Relena and my trusty little friend here.” I said as I patted my side. Yes, I still can carry a gun. I have a special permit. I used to carry large amounts of cash and decided to make the gun legal.

“No, take some one else.. Too much danger.”

I looked at him thoughtfully. WuFei was coming with Sally I hoped. If he did I would take him. “Ok, so tell me where you stashed him.”

“Warehouse on the water front , number 27 I think.”

I reached out for his hand and squeezed it, then I leaned down and kissed him ever so lightly. “I missed you, Duo. You know I love you.”
He nodded and tried to answer. I covered his mouth and said . “Save it for later.”

He closed his eyes and drifted to sleep.

I stood as I heard the soft rap on my back door. I moved through the house and made no sound as I got to the door. I gently pulled the curtain back and reached for my gun at the same time. I saw Sally’s face in the shadows, then pulled the door open.

“Come in, guys. Where’d ya park?”
Wu Fei nodded at my caution, and replied back. “About a block down.”
I nodded and lead them to my bedroom and the wounded Duo.

I watch Sally for a few minutes. “Will he be ok,” I asked her.

She nodded as she probed the wound. Duo flinched and groaned.

I turned to WuFei, knowing Duo was in Good hands with the doctor.

“I need you to come with me. I have to call Relena and then we have to go get Heero.” I raised my hand as he began to speak. “I honestly don’t know what’s going on, ok?”
“Why call Relena?”
“She has to take Heero. I can’t keep him here.”
WuFei nodded at the logic. He knew what I meant it was better to have them separated then together, especially if some one was after them. It would make it harder to get them both. I looked back at Sally and then Duo , then slipped out to call Relena. I wondered if she would get irate with me but when her face popped up on the screen I knew she was still awake.

“Hilde. It’s early. What is it?”

I couldn’t believe how perceptive she was. Did my face show that much emotion she could just read it on me?

“Something’s happened . Meet me here.” I told her the address, and then said , “Bring Pagan. It’s a possibility we could need him.”
She nodded and asked when. I told her twenty minutes. She nodded and disconnected.

I came back to the bed room and found WuFei checking his weapon. I shook my head and wondered where these guys kept them.

He pointed to mine and asked if it was loaded. I nodded and touched it. He didn’t ask why I could carry it and I didn’t tell him. I looked past him to Duo and then stepped up to the bed. I looked at the prone man on my bed and then at Sally.

“Go!” She said.

We left. I stepped into the garage and eyed the bikes Duo and I purchased a few months before he left. “we Should take these.” I sighed, but maybe it would be better to take the car.
WuFei eyed the bikes, then took them down. He nodded. “These are better and quiet.”

I turned off the garage light and we slipped out into the night on the bikes, silently gliding down the street. I sighed, I had always enjoyed a bike ride, too bad this was a matter of life and death.

We skimmed quietly up the road to the warehouse and we put the bikes in a alley way between the large buildings. I made a signal for WuFei to wait out side. He wanted to protest but then relented. Some one had to watch for Relena and I knew where to look for Heero.

I slipped in the abandoned building and stood still. It was dark, but not pitch and I wanted my eyes to adjust before walking blindly into something I wasn’t able to see. I had my little pen light with me but it was small and gave little light. I’d use that when I found him. I moved silently through the building listening to the odd little sounds old buildings make. I could hear small animals scampering around in the darkness and even something that sounded like dripping water. I frowned and followed that sound. I hoped it wasn’t blood and I was too late to save Heero. Neither Duo or Relena would ever forgive me. Found the source of the noise. It was blood but not Heero’s. Some one must have gotten in his way. I pulled out my pen light and shined it on the floor. I could see streaks in the dust that looked like some one was dragging something like a leg or foot. I followed, removing my gun as I inched my way in the darkness. I found a door and pushed it open, unsure if I would get shot or not.
A gruff voice called out. “Get out.”

“Heero?” I called.

“Hilde?” came his questioning reply.

“Yeah, I’ve come to get you, come on.”
“Duo?”

“He’s safe for now.”
I heard him sigh and flashed my penlight over to him. He looked pretty beat up. Even more so than Duo. I could see fresh and dried blood on his clothes and his leg was laying in an odd angle.

I walked over to him, putting my gun away. “I thought you could set your own bones?”

He grunted but didn’t answer me. I knelt down and put my arm around his back, putting his arm over my shoulder.

“Ready?” I asked as I started to get to my feet, pulling him up with me. He helped me the best he could and we moved slowly toward the door and out of the warehouse.

“Relena is coming to get you.”
He was going to argue but I said , “Listen, I can’t have both of you at my house. It’s too dangerous. We have to keep you separate, that way it will confuse those who are after you.”
I paused as we got to the out side door. “I need some help here , Heero. Duo said he came to me because I was the only one who can help. What did he mean?”

“you’re a good hacker.”
“I need a name.”
“Dovinski.”

“Thank you.” I opened the door and found Wu Fei waiting for me. He pointed to Relena’s limo as it slowly drove by, stopping a little bit farther down from the building. WuFei took Heero from me and took him to the car. Relena got out and helped him get the wounded man into the back seat. WuFei shut the door and waved Relena on.

As soon as the car was on it’s way another car pulled into the drive. WuFei and I looked at each other , then ran.

“We need to split up,” I shouted to him.
He nodded and we both got on the bikes and went in opposite directions, planning to meet back at my house.

A little while later we were in my kitchen. Sally had patched Duo up well enough and was ready to leave. She knew she would have to make a stop at Relena’s mansion before the sun came up. I thanked them both and watched them head out the door. I glanced at the clock 5 am. I yawned and went to peek in at Duo who was sleeping soundly and peacefully. I smiled and found a spare blanket and made my way to the couch. There were too many unanswered questions right now but I needed sleep before I tackled them.

To be continued.
